Portland’s Oldest Children’s Resale Shop

Formerly known as Piccolina on Clinton, Pinwheels is one of Portland’s oldest resale shops. Established over 25 years ago, it’s had a handful of owners and a few name changes. And while the name has changed, we assure you that we carry the same great style and service that its reputation has been built upon!

From the Desk of Sara Holmes (Owner)

In 2007, I stopped by my neighborhood resale shop (then known as Piccolina) to buy an emergency pair of pants for my little one (as you do when littles soak through their outfit en route to a party and you find yourself completely unprepared).

This emergency pit stop ended up changing my life; I was on extended maternity leave and dreading the return to my job as a buyer in corporate America. I spied a tiny sign taped to the corner of the window that reads “Store for Sale.” It was my calling! I quit my job and have never looked back! As a bonus, I was able to put my education to great use, having graduated in 2001 with a degree in Visual Communications from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in San Francisco, CA.

Joined by my hardworking staff and fantastic family, running Pinwheels Resale is an absolute joy. It very quickly became my passion; no two days are the same! I cherish visits from familiar faces and watching families grow over the years.
One thing that has remained the same: Portland’s continued passion for sustainable, environmentally friendly shopping, unique fashions, and the continued outpouring of support for small businesses.

I am incredibly grateful to be a part of such a strong and impactful community!

Until next time,
Sara
