How It Works

What We Look For

Briefly, we ask that you bring in:

  • 100 items or less per visit
  • Current season items only
  • Clean goods (stain-, tear-, smoke-, and pet-free)

And if you want to do your homework, here’s a detailed list of the items we look for:

Children’s Clothing

  • Sizing: Preemie to 10 years old
  • Manufactured within the last five years, i.e., current trends/styles
  • Vintage items accepted on a limited basis
  • Swimwear and costumes are welcome year-round!

Bestselling clothing brands: Mini Boden, Tea Collection, Hanna Andersson, Crewcuts, Kickee Pants, Levi, Gap, Tucker & Tate, Catimini, Matilda Jane, The North Face, REI, Patagonia, Burberry, Janie & Jack, Peek, Adidas, Nike, Columbia, most European imports, and anything organic.

Children’s Shoes

  • Sizing: Newborn to 5 youth
  • Manufactured within the last five years, i.e., current trends/styles
  • We typically buy for the season; exceptions are made for new/like-new out-of-season footwear
  • Styles: Snow boots, rain boots, athletic shoes, dress shoes, baby booties, slippers, and new walkers, dance & sport shoes

Bestselling shoe brands: See Kai Run, Keens, Nike, Adidas, Puma, Salt Water sandals, Livie& Luca, Native, Hunter, Mini Melissa, Bogs, Robeez, Toms, Pedipeds, Stride Rite, Uggs, Teva, Chaco, Frye, Vans, and Converse. Any brand rain boots, snow boots, and dance shoes.

Remember to wipe your shoes down if needed. The better they look, the more you earn!

Toys and Games

  • We buy toys/games geared towards children aged newborn to 10 years old
  • Wooden toys are most popular, but most plastic toys are accepted as well
  • Other toys accepted: puppets, dolls/doll accessories, RC vehicles, musical instruments, board games, card games, video games/consoles, puzzles, and more!
  • Please provide batteries, as needed, to increase your chance of a sale
  • Manufactured within five years, no sign of wear/tear chipped paint, or missing parts

Bestselling toy brands: Plan Toy, Haba, Melissa & Doug, Green Toys, Legos/Duplos, American Girl Dolls, Play Mobil, Brio, Ravensburger, Fisher-Price, Radio Flyer, Little Tikes, and Thomas the Train.

  • We buy books in all languages!
  • Cloth books, board books, new readers, picture books, and titles geared towards preteens are the most popular
  • Check that the bindings and pages are in good condition
  • We love cloth diapers! Diapers, covers, inserts, and prefolds are all welcome
  • Please check that snaps/fasteners are in like-new condition and that there are no stains, discoloration, odors, or damage of any sort
  • Disposable diapers are welcome in sealed packages

  • Safe, clean, and excellent-condition carriers of all types are welcome
  • Please check for recalls before bringing your carrier in (https://www.cpsc.gov)
  • We love ring slings (metal rings only, please), backpack carriers, wraps, pouches, and soft structured carriers.

We don’t have a ton of space, but we can pack it in when we need to!

We accept strollers, bike trailers, tag-a-longs, wagons, bikes, scooters, play structures, high chairs, pack & plays, co-sleepers, swings, bouncy seats, bike seats, exersaucers, activity/playmats, Bumbo chairs, diaper bags, changing pads, bassinets, changing tables, nursing rockers & ottomans, children’s table & chair sets, Moses baskets, bookshelves, toy boxes, and more!

  • All brands and sizes of maternity & nursing clothing, including nursing bras, are welcome
  • We ask that they reflect current fashion (manufactured within the last five years), are freshly laundered, free of stains, pet hair, and odors
  • We accept maternity clothing on consignment only (please see the “How It Works” section for more info)
  • We look for clothing wearable in the current season, although we take nursing tanks and swimwear year-round.

Bestselling maternity brands: Asos, Destination Maternity, Motherhood, Storq, Gap, Jessica Simpson, Hatch, Old Navy, Pink Blush, Top Shop, H&M Mama, Loft, A Pea in the Pod, Hot Milk, Liz Lange, Isabella Oliver, Maternal America, Ingrid & Isabel, Rosie Pope, all designer jeans (Citizens, Paige, J Brand, Madewell, Lilac, DL1961, AG, etc.)

Bedding, rugs, artwork, baby gates, monitors, bottles (glass or BPA-free plastic), bottle warmers, diaper pails, humidifiers, sterilizers, feeding supplies, nursing supplies, teething supplies, potty training gear, safety proofing supplies, bed rails, bathtubs, and more!

How to Get Paid

  • We pay you 30% of our selling price.
  • For example, if we sell your item for $10, you will receive $3.
  • We will issue you a check if we owe you more than $20.
  • We pay you on the spot; no waiting for your items to sell.
  • We give you 40% of our selling price in-store credit for your items.
  • For example, if we sell your item for $10, you will receive $4.
  • We track your credit in our computer system, so no need to worry about misplacing it. Trade credits do not expire. You may use your trade credit immediately or save it for later. Trade credits may be used towards any item in the store.
  • We offer 50% in cash when you consign your items. We consign larger ticket items (typically valued at $50 or more), gear (due to liability), maternity clothing, parenting books, and anything else we feel might be a harder sell.
  • When consigning your items, Pinwheels will keep them on the sales floor for up to 60 days.

  • We offer a 60% payout to our local designers!
  • These items are accepted on consignment only.
